Kangabusharo Village: Survey for OWOG
Our visit to Kangabusharo Village was a success! Three COSAD staff members and I visited with 9 of the 10 women joining the OWOG project, gathering information and helping them complete forms related to OWOG. Amelia, one of the 10 women joining the OWOG project, has been a community leader/ volunteer for other projects in this village, so she is graciously helping to lead this new endeavor as well. COSAD’s efforts would be non-existent without community leaders and volunteers like Amelia. She knows the women in her village personally, is well respected, caring, and is not unfamiliar with the struggles they go through. She has great capacity to organize the women in her village, and she knows what a positive impact a project like OWOG has on a struggling family. Volunteers like Amelia help to insure that COSAD's community programs are relevant, relational, lasting, and catered to the strengths of the community.I personally enjoyed having the chance to spend more time with Ameila and the women. They are really fantastic individuals with enduring attitudes and joyful spirits. I've already learned so much from them.
