Kiteyagwa Primary School Teachers: Survey for OWOG

In similar fashion to last week’s surveys of Kangabusharo Village, we conducted the same surveys in Kagondo Village with another 10 women for the OWOG project.  It went great!  Unlike the Kangabusharo women, the Kagondo women are unique as they are all teachers at the public primary school (Kiteyagwa Primary School).  The teachers will be keeping the goats on a small ‘farm’ near the school for the primary reason to generate a sustainable and consistent source of nutrition (goats’ milk) for the 755 children that attend the school.  Most of the children in Kagondo village attending Kiteyagwa School are not fed until long after the school day is over; sometimes they even go without water.  This extension of OWOG will start slowly, first by feeding the youngest students and the students in their ‘examination year’.

Pictures below are of a very quiet Kiteyagwa Primary School!!  It is summer break for about 7 weeks, and the only students around are 7th graders preparing for tests and a handful of children doing summer chores around the school grounds.  The last two pictures are of the wonderful teachers initiating the OWOG project to start feeding their students!
